Swamp’s Edge Outfitters was formed in 2007. Prior to this all hunting on this property was kept private. The land was purchased in 1963 by J. Norwood Edge & Son Inc. and is sill under their ownership. It took over 20 years to clear and prep the land for farming. Over the years the land has been developed into farmlands, wetlands, forested wetlands, and tree farms. The land is surrounded by The Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge on 3 sides. Hunting was done by a small private hunt club since the early 1980’s. In the years since it has continuously been developed into an elite hunting ground. After careful consideration and planning, Swamp’s Edge Outfitters was formed to open the land to a limited number of hunters each year. We believe in the ethical hunting of animals and in the preservation of wildlife: Two things some would say contradict each other. We feel the combination of the two is what makes our hunting grounds superior for the hunts that we offer. We could sell way more hunts than we do if we just wanted to make money but our goal is to share the trophies of the Dismal Swamp with other hunters while doing everything in our control to try to ensure a successful hunt by maintaining an abundance of wildlife. Each year we work very hard to further develop our land into even better hunting grounds and we hope you will enjoy what we have to offer and will leave with an impression that sets us apart from other outfitters.
